AMIGONSTRO ?

.

AMIGONSTRO project combines illustration, crafts and design and its main objective is to promote handmade work, the recovery of objects and the strug le against mass production, never leaving out the passion for drawing and the pursuit of originality.

AMIGONSTRO focuses on illustration and its use into objects, especially handbags, purses, wallets and textile stuffed toys. Every creation is born out of the author's illustrations, who also designs and develops the products. All products are then made using manual traditional processes such as sewing, fabric painting and textiles screen printing. AMIGONSTRO loves to work with precious products such as cotton and non-toxic inks.

AMIGONSTRO was created in 2005 by Marta Belo.

In 1998 and after three years of Art studies, Marta deviates from her journey and in 2005 she was graduated in Childhood Education [ESEL, Leiria]. Acknowledging that the pedagogy area was not what she wanted for her life, she goes back to her dream and in that same year of the graduation she holds on to her illustration works and begins the project that from that day on would be known as AMIGONSTRO.

In 2006 Marta Belo opens a temporary store in Leiria to present AMIGONSTO to the world and after more than 4 years AMIGONSTRO is still alive and kicking, but now using a virtual shop to present and sell its products.

In 2009 the artist attends and succesfully completes a course on Screenprinting and Textile Stamping [CEARTE, Porto] and currently she attends a course on Illustration/BD [Ar.co, independent art school, Lisbon], with the purpose of learning more and more about what her hands love to do: illustrate and create.

Marta Belo started AMIGONSTRO on her own but at this moment she has the precious help of some talented people who help her with sewing (handbags) and shipping AMIGONSTRO's customer's orders.

'A big hug to those who became part of this dream and make it possible for it to grow.' [Marta Belo]
